Chapter Five
Len Kagamine

"Len," Kaito said.  "I cannot allow this!"
"Why not!?" I asked, angered.
"Because suicide it evil!" He laughed in a half-frightened way.
"So father was evil?" I asked tonelessly
Kaito hung his head for a moment, then looked up. "Len, you are asking me to let you lead an army right into the hands of a bounty hunter.  That either means you know something I don't, or you are completely stupid."
"It's neither, Kaito," I told him.  "She's one girl; why fear one person so much?  We can't stay like this, hidden and afraid!" My voice had risen to a scream.  "We are supposed to fight evil, no?!  So why are we hidden like cowards while killers pick us of one by one!? Even if we're doomed to die, we might as well take someone with us!"
Kaito sat back in his chair and thought.
"Master; General," a soft voice broke in. "If I may brake in."
"General Luka," We greeted her.
"I believe Len has a point," Luka told us.  "I won't pretend my vote is not to avenge my daughter, but Len is also right.  If I die, I don't want to go in my sleep;  I want to be carried back on my shield!"
Kaito contemplated this for a moment, then sighed.
"Very well," Kaito said.  "But not yet.  We have spies with information yet brought to us.  We could risk loosing them along with that precious knowledge."
"Fine," I said, leaving the room.  "I will sent out the telegram:  Return to mother base at once."
"That sounds good," Kaito said.  "Luka and I will start a strategy."
I nodded and left.
I sent out the telegram and went to my room.  Kaito and I lived in the one room together.  He had a bed and I had a bed.  He had a drawer and I had a drawer.  That was it.  We didn't need much else.  The Organization had shefs and bathrooms.
I laid out on my bed and counted the cracks in the ceiling.  It was something that kept me occupied.  I knew my fifteenth birthday was coming up, and that, despite everything, Kaito almost always does something for my Birthday.
'This year, I want to kill the bounty hunters,' I thought.  'Cake is nice, but blood is better.'
I knew that Kaito probably would be happy to oblige to that.  If they capture the mysterious girl who cut down so many of our own alive, maybe I could be the one to execute her.  Though I might want that honer to go to Kaito, who'd already lost his wife and almost-was son to her.
'Her death would be enough for me,' I thought.
I felt like a child, but I wanted to look in Kaito's drawer for a card, or a present.  I smiled; fifteen was still a child, right?  I quickly ran over to the drawer and pulled open the first drawer, only to find the most disgusting, and appealing, magazines.
'I will save that drawer for later," I thought.
I opened the next one and found his socks.  I brushed though them until my fingertips brushed something medal.  I pulled it out and found an old photo.  It was of Mother, Father, Kaito and I.  They were all standing together, happy.
But there was something wrong.
There was another little girl with me.  And was it my imagination, or was father starring at us like we were evils?
"Why are you in my drawers!?" Kaito's voice sounded.
"N-no reason," I said, shutting up the drawers but keeping the picture.
"Did you look in the top drawer!?" He asked, shaking my shoulders.
"No," I said.
"Oh, thank god," Kaito said, sitting on the bed.  He seemed to only then notice the picture.  "Oh, I see now.  You want to know about her, right?"
I nodded.  "Is she my sister?  The one dad killed?"
Kaito hung his head.  "It was because of his stupidity that she was killed, but he did love her, and you."
I looked at her.
"She's beautiful," I said, touching her face.  "I can't believe I forgot that face."
Kaito smiled.  He took the picture out of the frame, folded it up, and placed it in my pocket.
"That picture pains me," he said.  "But I think you should keep it.  You two were very close."
Kaito was about to leave, when a thought entered my head.
"Kaito?" I asked.  "I have a question."
Kaito looked at me curiously.  "What is it?"
I tapped my fingertips to together, trying to gather the strength to ask.
"I'll answer any question you have," He said.
"Okay then," I said standing up.
"THERE WHERE'S THE CLOSEST CAN YOU GET MAGAZINES!?"
"OH SHIT! YOU LOOKED, DIDN'T YOU!?!"
"HEY, DON'T YELL, THOSE ARE YOU PICTURES!"
